Jeffrey C. Waterman, 61, of Frederika, and formerly of Gainesville, Missouri died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
Jeffrey Craig, son of Stanley and Janice (Redies) Waterman, was born April 4, 1955, in Waterloo, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Artesian of rural Waverly and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. Jeff received his education in the Tripoli Schools and graduated from Tripoli High School in 1973. He would later receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the College of the Ozarks in Missouri. On September 25, 1979, he was united in marriage with Elaine Haskovec in Frederika. To this union two children were born, Adam and Anna. The couple would later divorce. Jeff taught fourth and fifth grade at Gainesville Elementary for fifteen years before retiring in 2015. He was on the Ozark Ambulance Board for many years and served as treasurer. Jeff enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be fishing or hunting and also enjoyed listening to folk music. After his retirement in 2015 he moved back to Frederika.
In addition to his children, Adam (Millie) Waterman of Spring Hill, Florida, and Anna (Gerald) Smith of Garrison, North Dakota, he is survived by three granddaughters, Sierra and Justice Waterman, and Emilee Smith; two grandsons, Dakota Waterman, and Quincey Smith; eight siblings, Kim Fox of Frederika, Jody (Kirk) Meyer of Frederika, Susan (Ron) Lienau of Ossian, Bob (Misty Kellog) Waterman of Frederika, Tom (Laurie) Waterman of Frederika, Marie Keding of Des Moines, Tammy (Bob) Weston of Denver, and Daniel (Trilby) Waschkat of Waverly; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Janice; his grandparents, Emil (Elenore) Redies, and Ethel Waterman.
